As a passionate artist, I know from my own experience how valuable and also frustrating certain areas of an artist’s everyday life can be. Today I’m talking about exciting collaborations and the opportunities they offer to develop creatively. It can be frustrating to constantly find yourself in a never-ending queue to get your art to the gallery level. Focussing exclusively on one project can be an advantage when it comes to precision. Full attention is put into one thing. Great, that makes sense! But from an intellectual, cultural and economic point of view, does it still make sense?

It can be valuable and enriching to work with companies and brands that appreciate art and want to get more in touch with it. Or co-operation partners who use different visual languages to bring more momentum and vibrancy to their brand. Companies book you as an artist because they like what you create and would like to integrate your signature style into their product in a different way. This gives you the opportunity to show your handwriting in an external project and to a different audience. It’s a great opportunity to combine old techniques with something new and to develop creatively. New target groups become aware of you. Trying things out and playing with them is a good recipe for further development. New connections in your brain constantly broaden your horizons and you can apply this to your actual work. The newly learnt techniques will flow into your art and you will see how you get better and better at what you do. Using art as such in different areas brings with it many possibilities. From illustrations and collages to photography and fashion styling, this variety of creative possibilities brings creative freedom. The fun begins.

What I have personally noticed in all the years of artistic work under ATELIER VRIL and also under SIGGI VON VRIL is that one-sided thinking and “wanting too much” leads to exactly the opposite. In cosmology, we speak of balancing forces that ensure that everything always returns to its balance. In other words, stagnation, stiffening, acting under pressure, wanting too much, etc., are all criteria for the next hammer of balancing forces. Taking yourself and the things around you seriously, but not taking them too seriously, is the ideal recipe in cosmology, so to speak. And that is precisely what we humans often find very difficult. Opening the mind and accepting new things can make projects that have already been started and older projects flow better.

The owner and managing director of EROTIK WEBAGENTUR, Thomas, approached me and told me enthusiastically about his latest project, the purchase of a fetish-orientated platform, FETISCH.GMBH. Here, various artists from the erotic sector have the opportunity to present themselves free of charge. Shops, channels, designers, clubs such as the KitKatClub in Berlin and many more connect on this platform and bring their craft or art to specific target groups. Thousands of fans from the erotic business and their followers regularly visit the Fetisch.GmbH website, providing a great opportunity to connect and present themselves. This well-visited site is also very exciting for advertising partners. In the first phase after the technical takeover of the new website, we worked hard to create a new look that fits in with the theme, yet is more modern and expressive than the previous homepage of the platform.

The former FETISCH.GMBH had put a lot of technical effort into it. As far as the design was concerned, there was definitely a lot of room for improvement. The first step was to find a new signature that would be memorable for visitors to the website. Existing and new customers should be inspired and new customers attracted. In my opinion, there is a lot of room for creativity in combination with artistic designs, especially in the adult market. Unfortunately, this is very rarely seen. Many websites and platforms often look dark, clumsy and old-fashioned. The images and graphics that are visible online often look extremely uncreative and boring. Photos and videos often look “cheaply” produced. It starts with the models and ends with the image editing. Well, taste is debatable. I think that many people don’t dare to approach various themes because it often has this dark and dingy character. If a fetish photo shoot is done well, then you can simply convey the themes better to people. You eat with your eyes.

Thomas, the owner, was keen to make an artistic statement. He wanted to create a uniform image on the surface. With the illustrative cartoon-style design, we achieved exactly that. Exciting, funny and relevant overview images that illustrate to the user what is behind the tab. For me, the challenge was to work in a modern and artistic way while still pleasing Fetisch GmbH’s customers, even if they are not used to such designs.

For me as an artist, the theme of eroticism always plays a beautiful role. My work is and has been characterised by various aspects of the fetish theme. Simply because it can look cool. In my more than 10 years of work as a fashion stylist and even now in the field of photography and art, I attach great importance to extravagant accessories that enhance the shoot, shoot or artwork. I often work with designers and shops that design unusual creations that are particularly popular in the fetish sector. I had the pleasure of working on the music video for Rammstein’s “Deutschland”. I did the styling and worked with various latex designers and designers for unusual accessories and costume designs and so the video became one of a kind.

The cult of the body itself also plays a very important role in my art pictures. I’m certainly not friends with everything to do with fetishes, but everyone has to find out for themselves where they want to go and what they want to use these themes for. For me, the visual connection between fetish and fashion and art is a great thing. It gives me the opportunity to develop creatively and have financial security.

Another requirement for the project was to create an opportunity to create advertising space in an exciting way that could be used by customers to increase their reach. In the first phase, a number of partners were already incorporated into the images, which will now receive very high visibility for several months. Then, the theme of fetish, eroticism and the individual categories should be realised in such a way that one reflects the other. It shouldn’t be too colourful at first, hence the colour code between black, red and white. I always like to work with symbolism, which helped me immensely here to tell a little story with each picture. Enlightenment also plays a role here. :-)

The Fetisch.GmbH website has a great starting point with several thousand users, so I’m excited to see how this project will continue in the future. If necessary, I will continue to support Thomas and hope to be able to show even more of my artistic talent in the next revision of the interface.
